Your birthday, password, full name and e-mail has been hacked if you are a LivingSocial customer. Owned in part by Amazon, the daily deal site has suffered a huge cyberattack on its computer systems. In an e-mail, CEO Tim O’Shaughnessy puts its’ security breach, “
“We recently experienced a cyberattack on our computer systems that resulted in unauthorized access to some customer data from our servers. We are actively working with law enforcement to investigate this issue.”
LivingSocial posted an alert on its home page to instruct its 50 million members to change their passwords immediately.
Only clients in Thailand, Korea, Indonesia and the Philippines were not affected by the attack. Luckily, they were on separate systems that shielded them from the ‘bad-doer’ hackers.
Most importantly, according to an e-mail released by LivingSocial, all credit card information or any financial details were not hacked in the cyberattack. This comes as good news in a not so good situation.
