Another Anonymous cyberattack has been claimed by the group and this time directly at the Israel government. The group tweeted about the attack April 7th, cliaming billions of dollars in damage and disruptions. The hackivist group not only hacked facebook and twitter accounts, but also affected official websites such as the Israel Police, Ministry of Defense, the Prime Minister’s Office, the Immigrant Absorption Ministry, Central Bureau of Statistics, bank accounts, and even the Israel Securities Authority.
The government’s founder of National Cyber Bureau, Yitzhak Ben Yisrael, claims that the disruption was not as big as Anonymous made it out to be. He said, “Anonymous doesn’t have the skills to damage the country’s vital infrastructure. And if that was its intention, then it wouldn’t have announced the attack ahead of time. It wants to create noise in the media about issues that are close to its heart.”
